When you are involved in a hearty laugh, you are focused on the present.  You aren’t thinking about the sad news that you received yesterday.  You aren’t worrying about what the frightening thing that will happen tomorrow.

Your negative thoughts and worries are temporarily set aside and you are able to enjoy the laugh as it cleanses and refreshes you.  Perhaps when the laugh is over, you will realize that you are able to deal with the sad news that you heard yesterday and the frightening thing that worries you.

Laugh and the world laughs with you,
        cry and your mascara runs.
cry and they put you on anti-depressants.
cry and you simply get wet.
cry and I’ll give you something to cry about.
        snore and you sleep alone.

Jimmy Durante said, "Laugh and the world laughs with you. Sneeze and it's goodbye Seattle!"

Laughter is the jam on the toast of life. It adds flavor,
